It sounds like the less a guy knows about the inner workings of a club the easier it is to be a fan. I use to love the movie "JAWS", then I watched a special about how it was made and I never watched the movie again.

I nominate this post for best of the year.............. Honestly for me, if it happens outside the boards I don't care too much about it.

2012 Futures Pick (Wisconsin Recruit) Peter Tischke will play for the Chicago Mission U18 this year. I thought he might try the USHL since some of his teammates from last year are....Linhart, Malone etc.

Rumor has it that there were not alot of vets at this years tryouts. I would like to hear anyones thoughts about how the players at tryouts looked. Is there any insight how the new coach will run the team this year? For instance, will he be aggressively going for an in your face style? or more like a skilled team that takes very few penalties? I'm not sure how big of a roll he played in Green Bay.Or really how big of a roll any assistant coach plays. At least we get to see the schedule but geez...... I sure would like to see a roster.............I see on other posts they are still ranked near the bottom in the west. Hopefully they can be more toward the middle.

I believe Rogger will be very successful. He will draft, develop and acquire good players like they did in GB. He did not inherit an established powerhouse but he will grow one.

I was at try outs and almost all of the veterans that are available to play this year were here. The league is pretty demanding on the kids. A way from home, long bus rides, 70+ game season, etc. I know the veterans are told you are playing for your spot, but really are they. These kids have done it and been apart of it and still made it. Experience you can not coach. The vast majority of players that can return, do, in the league.

The new coach is in a deal where he needs to hit the road running full steam. If the team does not put a better product on the ice, than it has in the last few years, I am not sure there is much more for the ownership to bleed off. You will always have the fans that will come no matter what. It will be the casual fan that will find something other than hockey to do. You have to have more than the season ticket holders show up.

The three day camp had more offensive plays run, than we had all last season. As I have said before, if you have beat GB in the last few years, you played a great game. They play really well as a team, and really no one stands out among them. A group effort. We need some of that here and sooner than later. Maybe this is the year.

It's not just the casual fan that is leaving Jim...several season ticket people from my section have left and if we don't see better this year, I'm not sure about renewing either. What is the point of spending $400 and driving an hour each way to watch the team lose every night?

My point exactly Bucsdm. Ownership is sucking the place dry. The casual fan as a couple would spend $40 or more to take in a game. Family of four would be up around $60. I know they have some promotions that reduce that a little. Several season ticket holders I know are just plain moving to lower cost seating this year if they are renewing at all.

The bucs do have a great promotions staff. If it was not for them the place would be empty most games, We have several season tickets and have talked about just canceling them and buying tickets threw the box office on mondays. Promotions such as family nights, three dollars off here or there, buy one adult get a kids free, etc. The season ticket package, even the early bird, gets the per game ticket only down a few bucks, alot of game night specials you can do just as well. We are not beer drinkers so the mug club is not a big deal. We have had our tickets a long time and really talked at renewal time, what we get for that. there really is no perks for the season ticket holders. No free or reduced parking passes, no meet and greets. There used to be, but it is starting to feel like we are just a dollar sign walking around with tickets to every game.

I guess my point is that most nights they are not busting the door down to get into the place. They could offer some perks to the guy that buys tickets to every game before the season starts. Hiring Simon fed the system for a couple of years. I think hiring him was more about bringing fans back than anything and it some what worked.

I hope for the best, but fear the worst. Its being sucked dry at every level by ownership. Where do you start? I hope with a coach that has been around for the draft and not just handed a team to make the best of. I hope a coach that has been given a little longer leash than the past. I hope a coach that can put the product on the ice. I have said the last few years that it could not get any worst, but sadly it does.

You folks really would not be happy to be a CR fan.
Our prices are more expensive for a night out for 4 and for season tickets.
Hope the Bucs put a team on the ice that is more competitive.
Best wishes for your new coaching staff as they have a lot of work to do to rebuild the team as a whole.

Hutch, I looked at the RR website to see what a season ticket holder gets. Yeah its about 50$ more a ticket, but you have about 17 bullets points that season tickets get you. Maybe some of those, there is not much to.

Ours has four.
#1 Unused tickets to be turned in by 5pm game day for vouchers to week night games. No exceptions
When they say 5pm no exceptions they mean it. Is this how your redemption nights work?

#2 Pay after play play off tickets. You will be charged for your seats after the bucs have been eliminated. Whether used or not.
We have not had to worry about this one. Is yours similar?

#3 Half price mug club a 22 oz drink mug that you fill for half price.
Not a bad one. Pop is 1.25, I do not drink there beer but I think it 2
#4 10% discount in gift shop.
This has been one voucher in each season ticket packet the last few years.

As you can see the first two are all about the money. The next one really is not a great deal, but we will take it. The last one, is about the money again. We spend ours to get some of the new stuff at the beginning of the year, but then have none for birthday & Xmas gifts.

I have been to games in CR. No fee to park, if you want to be anywhere close in DM, you will pay. How is you consessions? Do you feel its priced OK. I thought that it was ok. Our just keeps going up and the quality never gets any better or goes down.

Never really had holiday gifts, companion vouchers, exclusive events. It looks like you get a little more bang for the buck.

Lets go Bucs

Rogger took care of the defenceman. He would run practices a lot for Coop and Rud when they were on recruiting trips and what not. Players I talked to said that he ran practices as good as they had all year. He will work with a young team from what I've heard, but they're only going to get better. He's got a good grasp on what he wants to do. That much I know. His style will be a mirror of Coop's and Newsy's. It will be fun to watch. Their will be some lumps. I can tell you that. By halfway through, DM fans will like what they're improving on. That's my guess.

I spoke several times wth JP Parise when he came to CR in 08-10 and he claimed he was hired for 2 seasons only as he wanted to retire and follow ZACK. Regg Simon was the only head coach the Bucs fired since 08. We get the info from the league so its solid information and on spot. Rumor is Regg Simon will never coach in the USHL again. Good luck to the Bucs this season and best wishes for Rogger.

I've been waiting to appropriately respond to this blatantly misinformed post. In bold print i highlighted a quote that you should be very careful about writing, especially since you've made multiple references about your unspecified role within the CR organization.

Great post......... Did Rogger have much to do with the special teams in GB? Who is/are his assistant/s in DM, and who runs the scouting department if you know?

Ryan Bennett was named ass. coach a few weeks ago. It looks to be his first coaching job. He thirty years old and says that he has recently retired from playing. He was bucs player in 2000-2002 seasons.

I have no idea about scouting.

Roggs had input on certain things, but I'm not sure how much exactly. If last year's PP was any indication, look out for the Ferguson years for the PP.

Nice, informative piece. I didn't know anything about this kid until I read it. I'll be watching for him now....... I like that he's probably gonna take some time to mature physically before going to the USHL. No need to come up and get killed.

Thanks for the link. Do you have a Twitter account?
