Larry Sterling signs with Tulsa Oilers

Quote

“Larry is going to bring a great presence in our locker room,” said Oilers Head Coach Bruce Ramsay. “He’s had tremendous success at the Double-A level and he’ll bring consistency, stability, and leadership to the goaltender position.”

Sterling’s professional career began in 2004 with the Fort Worth Brahmas. The 29-year old stopped pucks for two years with the Brahmas before moving on to the Mississippi Riverkings. During the 2006-07 season, the 6’2” 180-pound netminder led the CHL with 31 wins and was selected to the All-Star team. After the 2007 campaign, Sterling, a Michigan native, returned to his home state to play for the IHL’s Port Huron Icehawks. In three seasons in Port Huron, Sterling averaged 25 wins and a 2.65 goals against average. Sterling returned to the Riverkings for one season before landing with the Gems in 2011.

“No one wants to win more than Larry Sterling,” said Ramsay. “He competes every single night and he wants to win a championship. He believes we can accomplish that here in Tulsa.”

“I would rather somebody take a pair of steel toed boots and kick me in a delicate region than to lose a hockey game like that. That is a tough way to lose.” - Toronto Marlies Head Coach Dallas Eakins

A good signing for Tulsa IMO. I always hated when he was in net for PH when the 'Jacks played them.

No one will ever question Larry's fire. This guy wants to win as badly as anyone you'll see. If he were a forward he'd be a Carcillo or a Marchant.........

Ahh, this bring back good memories of my favorite FYC thread, especially post #15.

You've got one helluva memory as I'm assuming you didn't stumble across a thread from 2009......... Didn't realize Larry had such good numbers last year. http://www.hockeydb....y.php?pid=55303
