Artie you hit the nail on the head. Info now is that this group is going with the GLJHL because AAU has given their people status in the AAU body. Other info has them only having 4 or 6 teams. This could actually hurt the CHL product which was shakey already.
There is a difference between someone who plays hockey, and a Hockey Player. which one are you?

These guys should be more concerned with fixing their main product instead of branching out to something else.

Are there many around who think Bloomy can keep a AA team for very long? ..... I think that dynamic has to be read into ANY hockey news that comes out of Bloomy, this included.... It seems the city is destined for junior or A level pro, just a matter of when.

Definitely one way to fund a pro team that isnt making money. Good call. The question is, how many kids will play in a 6 team league thats not USA Hockey? My bet is only the kids that cant make other teams. Not that its bad for them, they should get chances to develop, but under what kind of system? Then again, if midget wasnt so expensive, this wouldnt be happening.

minor life- with you on cost of Midget Hockey and I am NOT anti pay to play as I think it is called- but I do have an issue with making money off of kids- Send your kid to Havard for $100,000 a semster- probably worth it, send your kid to community college for $100,000 someone is lining their pockets. More opportunities for kids to play is great- hope they are on the up and up.

Boxcar, I have to say Tier III hockey in the NA3HL, EJHL, MnJHL and Empire leagues is very good hockey. Players are going to school from these leagues and thats what it should be about. Not everyone is going to an NCAA program, but some are, and many others are going to ACHA programs on academic scholarships. There are so many players that are late bloomers and going to the NAHL or USHL isnt an option because they need a year or two at the Tier III level. If teams are run right, budgets should be based on tution to cover operation costs, not to produce profits. If teams want to profit, they should be developing the fan experience and making that money from the gate and sponsorships. It will be interesting to see how Bloomy does this.

Pantagraph/Randy Kindred New Blaze junior team to create 'doubleheaders'
Quote
The Bloomington Blaze will be offering 24 hockey doubleheaders next season with the addition of a Tier III junior hockey team.
The Blaze junior team will have 24 home games, with all played prior to a Central Hockey League game involving the parent club.
“If you have a Blaze game at 7 or 7:30 (p.m.), the junior team will play at 3 or 3:30,” Blaze president and general manager David Holt said Wednesday.
“It’s an opportunity for our fans to check out the junior game and stay and watch the Central Hockey League game.
