Maybe they are announcing they might spend some money on their website? lol Sorry, I am willing to bet they actually try to launch. Although they were still looking for investors as of two weeks ago and no news from them in five months crazier things have been done. Look for Nick Poe to team up with a Harrisson is my guess.

If only it were an announcement that they were playing in 2012-13 in the Federal Hockey League...

Ryan Harrison's working for the Danville Dashers... That's a Harrison, right?

Hope it is an announcement on joining the FHL. The few Storm games I went to I had a lot of fun. The hockey was fast, physical, and tough. I hope the Storm make it back. They worked with the Cyclones, and the Cyclones hosted them as guests a few times, and would make announcements when their games were.

LOL, the only hope they have is the FHL. I dont see anyone in Michigan being dumb enough to go in at this late date unless they receive subsidy from other teams for travel. It is the end of April! Five months before the pro season begins! No marketing, no ticket sales, most sponsorship dollars for 2012 have been spent or committed by now. Anyone starting a team in A level pro is signing up to loose a truck load of money. There are only two markets in MI that could work Lapeer and Traverse City and they only work if certain people own them. As a fan, sure I would love to see it happen, but when these teams fold mid season or after one year, we shouldnt be complaining how screwed up it was if we are asking for it to happen now.

I am not sure were you get your information. Peace take some advice do not use that source anymore becouse they lies to you. He was not looking for investors two weks ago. All that has been in place from the start. Also Nick Poe will not be team up with Chuck Harrisson becouse he has bigger plans then that. To answer your question how do I know this. I have lunch with him 3 times a week

let's ask you a question as you seem to have all the answers here. I know you have never own a team but.
You have a budget of 1.2 million dollars and you play a 66 game Schedule and your ticket price is $10.00
How do you make money? I know you have the answer and model to share with everyone.

Mr or Mrs Zone. Thanks for the challenge. Correct I do not and have not owned a team. My source on investors, is someone directly asked to invest, someone who has owned a team before, someone that is known in the hockey world and respected. 1.2 Million for a 66 game schedule is chump change in pro hockey. As an FYI I have consulted with more than a dozen teams at the AHL, ECHL and CHL level when developing business models and budgets. I work in the business ever day. Anyone thinking they can run a true pro hockey team, one that would resemble an SPHL team at its best, will spend a minimum of 1.5 Million. $10 tickets? Can not be done without 500K in sponsorship sales and a 3000 person per night average. Think this team will get 3000 a night? They couldnt even get 300 in their previous life. A relationship with the Cyclones is good, but a relationship with real financial backing, an experienced ownership and management group, and a solid league would be much better. Think they will get 500K in sponsorship? They wont get 50K in paid sponsorship. The idea of putting another team in Cinci when they have the ECHL and Don Biggs is running the NA3HL team is beyond dumb.

Having lunch with Nick Poe isnt something I would brag about. I am sure you arent having lunch anywhere within Don Biggs earshot because he is none too happy about Nick Poe flapping his lips and saying he owns the NA3HL team. But hey I only know that because I was at a meeting with him. Sorry Ric if this is a little agressive, but I am just so tired of these fake operators burning good miswest cities.

Oh and one last thing.......ask Nick Poe when he plans on paying his AAHL players from the 2010-2011 season...

I'm with you on this. Poe doesn't have alot of friends in the Cincy hockey area after the first go around...I have my suspicions about "the zone"

If you are trying to launch in the Cincinnati hockey circles who must have Don Biggs in your corner. Lying about, or alienating him is certain death for your venture.

ML, you've been a solid member at FYC bringing facts most are not privy to for a long time. You are also speaking of things that are way above my pay grade, so I'll defer to your better judgment.

Zone you are new here, and welcome. I would add, since you are new, that the only qualification needed to post here is civility. In other words attack the poster's position, not the poster.

My last comment on the subject...after speaking to some people in Cinci this morning, it looks like they may actually have a team. Most likely in the FHL, but their could be a revival of the AAHL in the offing as well. The FHL makes the most sense. Not a whole lot of sense, but the most sense. No FHL team has made money yet, and Danville really took some serious financial hits. Filling in the gap for Danville to the east makes sense, but without two or three more partners in the midwest it will be a cash sucking endevor. I used to be a believer in Single A pro hockey in the midwest. Used to be is the key phrase.

The business model, costs, and the proliferation of junior hockey in the midwest will make it impossible for any A level league or team to have any financial success for at least the next three years. Projecting income in a business plan has not worked in nearly every case concerning midwest teams over the last decade.

I will take the 1.2 Million number offered and break that down. If this is the budget, could it be a relocated CHL franchise from Dayton? Sure, but I dont think anyone is dumb enough to do that, I mean I dont think anyone on the planet would put two AA franchises in one city. Duane Lewis certainly isnt goint to let that happen. But if they are using a 1.2 budget thats more than enough money to get through year one and possibly year two.

The Cincinnati Sports Zone drawings are very nice. Can not find fault there at all. I do question how they get to 3000 tickets sold when the drawings show space for what I would guess to be 1500 seats maximum on the center ice sheet.

Witht the Zone sceduled to open in August, there is still a lot of work to be done to put a professional product on the ice. With all due respect to the players in the FHL, and other A level players, the A level presentation and product has been far from professional in recent years. Using the past as a guide to the future would not be a good idea. Unless the "mall" or the project owns the team and is using income from leases to supplement the team, I dont see how they can make it. Again, doing it right requires more than just an arena and a league to play in, it requires a plan that is executed on the hockey side to near perfection.

The Chicago Express did nearly everything right, spent a ton of money in build up, hired the right coach, in a respected league and still couldnt make it. Dayton started off rough but worked hard for the last few years, and even after seeing attendance rise could not make it in a market with no real competition. I dont know anyone that would attempt this in Moline or Fort Wayne. Although Cinci is a large market and the Clones may help, it doesnt make sense from a business standpoint.

Well the center rink will hold 2800 w/450 warm club seats and 6 Suits with a told of 3500. The drawing on the website is 3 D concept from the real drawings I am told. Base on were the Storm will play he is not talking. I quess is a new league

A link to these drawings please?

If it a double A team I will not allow another hockey war in Cincinnati, and therefore never set foot in the building to watch a game. If it is a lower league anytime the Cyclones are not in town, I will be watching the Storm.
