I'm surprised no one started a thread about the IIHF U18 World Championships that begin today. The US and Finland just got underway 10 minutes ago. Finland beat the US a couple of nights back in a pre-tourney exhibition. All USHLers on Team USA that's going for their 4th straight U18 World Championship.

Not a big loss. I would prefer him not representing Team USA anyways.

Hey Komet, what are your thoughts on Skjei? I'm seeing some mock drafts where he might get scooped up by the Blackhawks in round 1.

Thanks for starting the thread as well. This tourney somehow got past me...........

Nice to see JT Compher on that team. My son played with him last year at Midget Minor. Just a great kid, with a very bright future and hope he has nothing but good luck.

Forward Anthony Louis is another '95. He took Matteau's spot

I personally like him. He's one of the best defensive skaters in this draft and that's saying a lot. A decent tournament would solidify him as a late 1st round pick IMO.

The US beat Finland 4-0 today by the way. Nicolas Kerdiles (Wisconsin), Matthew Lane (Boston), Quentin Shore (Denver), and Connor Carrick (Michigan) all scored third period goals. Good to see the US get 37 shots as well considering how offensively deprived this team is. USA plays the Czechs on Saturday.

US continues to roll beating the Czech Republic 5-0 today. Seth Jones had a goal and two assists, Ryan Hartman with a goal and an assist. http://stats.iihf.co...2A07_74_4_0.pdf

US plays Denmark today at noon.

Two big upsets in the tourney today as Russia gets beat by Germany 4-2 and Finland by Canada 4-2.

Big game tomorrow afternoon (2pm EST). USA/Canada. The US is 3-0 and hasn't allowed a goal the entire tournament thus far. Lots of future NHLers and high round draft picks playing on both teams. Canada is much younger with some 2013s

Just a round robin game. The winner gets a bye to the semifinals.

USA beats Canada 5-3. Matt Grzelcyk, Frank Vatrano, Seth Jones, and Matt Lane looked real good today. People that haven't seen much of Jones that watched the game were raving about him. The kid is the real deal.

The United States of Hockey/Chris Peters US beats Canada in Semi Finals

Quote

The U.S. and Canada have met in the semis three of the last four years at the World U18s, and each time the U.S. has come out ahead by just one goal.
