Dickson was the player for the Missouri Mavericks who got tangled up with Komets defenseman Brent Henley, forcing the net off its moorings with 19 seconds remaining and the Komets leading by one goal Friday in the opener of the Turner Conference Finals.
Blazic was the referee who ruled that Henley intentionally knocked the net off.
Ed McGrane scored on the ensuing penalty shot and Dickson struck again in overtime, taking a shot from the bottom of the right circle that banked off the inside of goaltender Nick Boucher’s leg and in for a 3-2 victory.

IMO, there was no other choice for the officials; but to call a deliberate dislodging of the net. Missouri had a clear scoring opportunity that got cancelled out. CHL rules state that an automatic penalty shot is awarded if the defending team deliberatly dislodges the net and the full delay of game penalty cannot be played out (rule 63.5 page 82 and 83 in the rule book if you want to look it up)...
Correct call as made...

“You can only hide for so long until somebody finally finds you. They’re hiding and we’re going to find them. I believe that. I believe we’re going to stick together and we’re going to go at them, and at them, and at them, and no matter what happens, at the end of the day, we’re going to be happy with ourselves.”
How exactly are the Mavericks, who won the opener 3-2 in overtime, hiding?
“They’re not going after the puck,” Chaulk said. “Anybody can sit there and watch this game and realize we are constantly coming at them in waves, coming at them with everything we’ve got. Yeah, it wasn’t enough tonight. So you better get some rest here and come at them with some more in the next game.”
The Komets outshot the Mavericks 42-24 Saturday, after outshooting them 40-27 in Game 1.

Interesting...........
Looks to be one helluva game and a series. Komets down 0-2 and even it up at 2 each. Two of the four games go to OT...... Next game in MO and games 6, and 7 if needed, back to Fort Wayne.

Great read from Cohn...... This stands out most, and I was thinking about this before I read it. I bet most who are around the Komets, including the fans, would trade 10 IHL/IHL2 Cups for one CHL Cup.
Helluva series........
