Ryan is in the house!! Nice work. :airhorn: .......

Will the 5th place team in the West end up playing .600 hockey and not make the playoffs?

Any one of the Hawks, Lancers or Stars will be on the outside looking in. Assuming of course no collapse by the Phantoms.

The fight for 2nd in the East, and home ice in round 1, is big cuz the Gamblers are impossible at home currently on a 14 game win streak at Resch. The Jacks hold 2nd place now 3 points ahead of GB, but GB has FOUR games in hand!! The Jacks head off for a 7 game road trip this week...... Their last 4 games of the year? Two at home and two on the road v Green Bay! How's that for schedule making?

Ytown hanging on to 4th at the moment with the Riders and Steel on their trail.

Thanks for putting this together every season, Ryan. Much appreciated.

I think the top four teams in each conference right now will make the playoffs. That's my prediction.

I think it's going to be a battle to the end for Omaha, Lincoln, and Waterloo. The Hawks seem to be on a bit of a slide. Definitely wouldn't count Lincoln out. They still have 5 games remaining against Omaha and Waterloo.

True, but they don't have the best record against Omaha and Waterloo. I'm not optimistic. Lincoln has a great record against the teams behind them in the standings, but not so good at all against the teams ahead of them.

I'm still buzzin over last nights game between the Steel and Saints. Put me down as a fan of only 4 teams making the playoffs. The teams that bought at, and coming up to, the trade deadline are loaded. And a few of em won't make the playoffs, and that's alright with me.

I'll take that trade off for the last 20-25 games of the season being battled by stacked teams battling for, and then playing, in the playoffs.

I know we're going back to 6 making it from each conference next year, but I hope league officials are paying attention to just how good the product is right now and should be throughout the second season.

I could be wrong, but I think one of the reasons league officials are going back to 6 teams in each conference making the playoffs is due to the fire sales we've seen some teams make this season. I don't think the league likes to see that. More teams fighting for more playoffs spots equals less fire sales, I suppose.

Having said that, I agree with you Rico. I'm a fan of the top 4 teams making the playoffs. Only the best teams in the league should be rewarded with postseason play.

Maybe Yeti, but why dilute the product? The league alleges to have a maximum of 8 moves, so there are mechanisms in place to deter an abusive amount of turnover. ....With the ability to tender and draft a club can reload from year to year, especially if a club was a seller late the year before.

It's said, and I believe it for most clubs, that the playoffs cause them to lose some money. The attendance just isn't as good in the Spring when these games aren't on the schedule, and many casual fans move on after the regular season to other things.

With that in mind only having 8 total teams make the playoffs you save some clubs some money and end up with 8 teams that are loaded to battle for the Cup...... The more I see this year play out the more I love the 8 team playoff format, and we haven't even gotten to the playoffs yet.

That said The Mighty Steel await the U-18's for a Wednesday night tilt. The way the Steel played this weekend this should be a beauty as they chase the Phantoms being 7 points back.

I definitely would not count Lincoln out. The boys just have to give a hard push to pass the two above them. It is possible if they want it that badly.

So the first tie breaker is head to head?

What is the second and third tie breaker?

As far as I know this is current....

In the event of a tie in the standings, the following are the tiebreakers that the USHL uses...

1.The record between the two teams involved (head-to-head record)
2.The team with the most wins in league competition
3.The team with the least losses in league competition
4.The greater goal difference (goals for minus goals against) in the total league competition (goal differential)
5.The greater goal difference (goals for minus goals against) between the teams in the games played between them (head-to-head goal differential)

When the tides of life turn against you and the current upsets your boat... don't waste tears on what might have been... just lay on your back and float!

My only issue with the 4 team format is there may be a lot of I coaches who might be shorting up the benches a lot earlier in the season vs getting a younger player some valuable playing experience.

I really did not think there where a lot of teams with fire sales this year, no more than you would of had if there where 6 teams advancing

This is a good point I hadn't thought of. But man, the hockey is incredible all over the league with 20 games to go and then the playoffs.........

Per my math, Sioux City is officially eliminated (might have already been) since Waterloo holds the 4th spot and won the season series between the two teams. If Des Moines can win out and Waterloo loses out, they can get the last playoff spot.

So one question?

i see the tie breaker for league play

what are the tie breakers for the Anderson cup

if Waterloo and Indiana tie  for the cup

they are tie for the head to head at a game a piece. you really can't go to league record because of different  leagues

For Anderson Cup, there are no tie breakers. So, if Waterloo and Indiana would both finish with the same amount of points, they would share the Anderson Cup.
