Has any Jacks player received a scholarship this season?

From the USHL.com website:

http://ushl.com/index.php?item_id=2529

College Commitment Lists

That doesn't sound the same as a scholorship. For Muskegon you have to wonder about Masters' "commitment". Also, Lance Fredrickson who is in the NAHL with 2 points and is "commited" to Miami. What does that really mean?

Huh? How the hell is a USHL player going to receive a scholarship if he isn't in school? A commitment is all players have at this point. Yes, a player can walk away from a commitment....and yes, the school can pull the offer. The university offered the player a scholarhip (full, or partial), and the player agreed. I guess I don't understand what more you guys are looking for.

I would also disagree that we have people who will play in the NHL. As of right now, I do not see any talent on the Muskegon roster that has the potential to play in the NHL.

Firstly this is the first I've read your posts and they add a lot of Musky insight. Welcome!! :beers:

Rasmus Bengtsson, this kid is the real deal. I was at the game Saturday when the Jacks were in Chicago and got my first look at this kid. Incredible skater. IMO in John Moore's league at the USHL level. http://www.pointstre...1&seasonid=7561

Will he make it to the Bigs? Who knows, but the kid moves as well as some NHLers today.......... And I'll add hats off to Mervis for getting the kid on "loan"!

Let me throw Lomberg's name into the mix. Kid reminds me of a Babcock Red Wing 3rd-4th liner with his smarts. Can't wait to see how much he develops at the college level.

I've read in this thread that Rop is no longer with the Chronicle. Is that true, and if so why?...... Although I've always been more of a Kwings fan than a Fury fan, I always liked Rop even though he was a homer, not unlike most UHL writers. I know he did a lot of bidding for the Fury/Lisman, but I'd read anything he wrote. I consider him a pro.

If Ron is gone from the Chronicle, I think it's a loss to the hockey world.

Rop is gone from the Chronicle because they restructured all of the mLive papers and consolidated the majority of it's papers and laid off a bunch more people.. including Rop. One would think that they would give his job to someone that they could pay a lot less to do a lot more for the company, but I have no facts to back this up and it is complete opinion.

They even closed and will try to sell the Chronicle building and moved into that nice new building where rent is probably too expensive to offset how nice it looks. They hired a guy named Mark Opfermann to write articles about the Jacks and other local sports, but I don't know anything about him that isn't on mLive. I have met Rop a few times and he is always nice to me.

For what it's worth, I have seen Rop in the team offices the last few times I have been down there. Except for today, when I went to get tickets for Friday and catch a bit of practice.
I'm the biggest Muskegon Lumberjack fan you'll ever meet.
I always sit in Section 107 Row M seats 8-13.

. I'm not certain if any of them were picked in the NHL draft last year or not, however I do believe at least one player is on the watch list for this years draft.

There were a few... Masters, Chlapik and DeBlouw.

Masters...well...

Chlapik has fallen off the radar mostly.

DeBlouw has been the best, but he's a long shot to get drafted.

DeBlouw will get drafted, 100% sure of that. I'd be surprised if he's still on the board after the fourth round is completed.

Why do you think this? I've watched him three times this year and have been blown away each time. Once was against the U18 team and he was arguably the best player on the ice. There are people higher on him than I am, such as CSS who have him ranked 37th overall

Blown away? By what? 7 or 8 goals on the season with a ton of ice time. It takes more than newspaper articles and press clippings.

Not to mention, he's only 37th of NA skaters, not overall.

And CSS is largely inaccurate until their last release. It's a list to get people "buzzing".

This is jr hockey and we've all seen a kid is identified as an 8 year old with "attributes" and this gives many a sort of free pass for a decade. To the point where they get ice time that isn't deserved and guys who do deserve it, but weren't on a "list" as a 7 year old, get passed over. Or the old man didn't have 10k a year for the kids hockey from 8 years old on up to play with the so called elite teams/leagues, but had the game to do so.

Also jr hockey we should know is about "ceiling" not necessarily results. So a smooth skating kid with size will always make the experts salivate, results not withstanding...........

Not saying this about DeBlouw, but if you were to give me one pick from the Jacks' roster not a second would go by before Lomberg was mine.
