I don't know if Cedar Rapids had an off night, or the Riders are as bad as they looked, but the Lancers just spanked the Riders tonight. Cedar Rapids looked like they never got off the bus. Omaha scores two goals on two shots in the opening minute, and coast to a 7-0 demolition of the Riders. Omaha's first goal is a blue line wrist shot from Ferrantino that hits the goalie in the glove, bounces out of the glove and in about 15 seconds into the game. The scond goal by Max Vallis was also soft. If Omaha had the PP going, it could have been about 12-0.
Another reason I hate the unbalanced schedule, as this will be the only time we see CR is Omaha. Thus, my opinion of the Riders is likely skewed by a really poor night for the Riders.
Indiana comes to Omaha on Saturday. Should be interesting.

I got the opportunity to see CR play a couple of weeks ago and they looked head and shoulders better than they did tonight. I don't want to sell the Lancer's performance short, because they really played well tonight, but I felt like CR could have done a much better job giving us a run for our money. I really felt bad for Hildebrand, two shots under 1 minute into the game and he lets both in. I hate to see any goalie have an off night, ours or theirs. 2 goals against and 59 seconds played it going to wreak some major havoc on that kids stats.

The bucs beat the ice last night. The ice scored first about half way into the first period. People were saying the ice were 18-1, when they scored first. The bucs tied it back up a few minutes later to go into the first intermission tied. In second period action the ice scored first again, with the bucs scoring three in five minutes later in the period. It just seemed that when the ice made a mistake the bucs made them pay for it. The third period the ice scored and got to with in one. That is how it ended 4-3 bucs.
We got to the arena early while the teams were warming up. There were 5-6 official type skaters on the ice. At the start of the game Ushl commissioner Skip Prince dropped the first puck with several refs on the ice. After the puck drop three skated off and left four to call the game. It was just a weird start to the game.
I have to say that I dislike the two ref games. It seemed that most of the penalties were called by the ref that was the farthest out of position. The ref standing right there in position to make the call never seemed to call one. As the third period went on it got worse. In the closing minutes the ice could do what they wanted. Four of the five penalties in the third period were on the bucs. Two were in the last minute of the game after the ice pulled the goalie. The last 20 seconds was 6 on 3, with the bucs not letting one in.
It was the 150 USHL win for coach. It was a great game for him to get it.
Lets go bucs
