Yeah, just wait until Windsor takes him with one of the top 30 picks in the Priority Selection this summer and the NTDP officially comes knocking. Another premature commitment by a Schmaltz that will end up making him look foolish.

Maybe NTDP, but Windsor seems like a longshot since they couldn't lure Jordan away from SC/GB and his commitment to North Dakota.

As of right now they can't lure Jordan away.

If they haven't lured him yet, they aren't very good at their job. They even tried that bit with the media to lure him and it hasn't worked.

Warren Rychel almost always gets what he wants, mainly because money talks. Just wait until July when he has an NHL team preferring him go to Windsor and a 5-6 figure bonus plus an education package enticing him to go to Windsor.

Jordan would get exposed BAD if he played in the OHL. An NHL team would make a big mistake guiding him there, imo.

This thread is about Nick not his older brother Jordan. Nick plays on the midget minor Mission AAA team out of Chicago. He played 11 games with the Gamblers this season and then went back to his youth club. This decision by Nick and his family probably came down to coaching plain and simple. The Gambler's have one of the best coaching staffs in the USHL despite going through another turnover for the 2nd year in a row. Contrary to the kool-aid that Team USA sells, their coaching staff is second rate at best.

NTDP is not for everyone - it has screwed up just as many kids as it has helped. Not knocking the program - their track record is pretty strong in terms of moving players to the next level - but there are other means leading to a successful hockey career than the NTDP.

J Schmaltz is a developing player - seeing that the NHL Draft uses potential as the primary criteria after basic skills assessment, he has a long way to go to even play regular shifts next year for UND. His offensive skills will shine given the right on-ice situation, but his serious lack of defensive skills are becoming more exposed as his time at GB moves along. Defensive skills, physical play/contact, leadership qualities are all components he lacks at this time. Not saying they won't develop as time goes on, but it ain't gonna' happen in the near future. Points and +/- tell part of the story(good points so far but +/- way behind other GB D corp), but I just hope perception is not reality in this kid's situation.

And Nick is the real deal - show me another 15 year-old player who made the adjustment to the USHL in 11 games. GB will have some incredible horses in the stable next year - can't wait to watch!

Well, word on the street was Windsor came knocking with a $100,000 figure and Schmaltz is still in the USHL.

He's also yet to be drafted.

Gibson, Campbell, Carlson...it's not just a coincidence.

I have no specific knowledge of why he picked GB over NTDP. I can think of several logical factors:

GB is 2 hours from home.

He likes the coaching staff

He - and the family - appreciate what GB did for his brother

He likes playing in front of crowds

He's a Packers fan

He likes his teammates

The college coaches he's talking to are OK with him playing in GB
