Dubuque, but Des Moines makes strides towards breaking the slump. 5-3 final, the 5th goal on the empty net.

Pheonix Copley vs. Matt Morris

Looks like Voltin is scratched for Des Moines.

OSC Saints blank Bucs, 2-0

Quote

The 2-0 win was Morris' second shutout of the season. He made 25 saves in the victory, and Head Coach Jim Montgomery credited him with winning the game for the Fighting Saints with his third period performance.

Des Moines Register Bucs fall at Dubuque

Phoenix Copley couldn’t end Des Moines’ losing skid. But the new goaltender gave the Buccaneers a spark.
Copley allowed only Zemgus Girgensons’ unassisted goal midway through the second period in Dubuque’s 2-0 U.S. Hockey League home win Wednesday.

“He played very solid,” Bucs coach Regg Simon said. “We got loose one time and their best player took advantage of it. The encouraging thing is that is as good of a game as we’ve played in weeks. We certainly played well enough to win.”

Des Moines, which dropped its seventh straight game, mustered 25 shots against Matt Morris and was 0-for-4 on the power play. The Buccaneers (13-20-4) have been shut out three times in their losing streak.

Anyone see this game? Looks like Copley was strong, as the only goal he gave up was a wrap around to Gergensons........... That's 7 losses in a row for the Bucs. They gave up one of the 3 games in hand they had on TC for the last playoff spot, while being tied with them at 30 points.

Copley looked alright, not a lot of great chances for either team. Both teams played great defense and kept the opposition to the outside. Both teams blocked quite a few shots. Morris had two great saves, one a break away, the other a Backdoor one time shot where he kicked his leg out right in time. Copley has a nice glove, few shots he just reached in traffic and snared the puck. On the goal, looked like he got held up on the far post not allowing him to get over I prevent Z from scoring. Good win for the Saints, take the momentum in to the home and home vs CR this weekend. With the win the Saints are now tied for 2nd!
