GB Press Gazette/Wes Hodkiewicz McKay sets Gamblers victory record with shutout of Waterloo

Quote

Ryan McKay posted his team-record 54th career regular-season victory on Tuesday and did so in dominating fashion, recording his second shutout of the season, 3-0 over the Waterloo Black Hawks in front of 1,577 fans at the Resch Center.

It was his 60th career victory including postseason, four short of Penko's record of 64. As he's worked his way back to 100 percent, McKay also has hit his stride, going 4-0-1 over his last five games with a 1.80 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. That stretch has propelled the Miami (Ohio) recruit to a USHL-best 2.12 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage, second best in the league.

Very much a team effort last night for the Gamblers. Ice wasn't the greatest but both teams still had plenty of scoring chances. Tempers heated up at the end of the game from a Waterloo player hitting McKay within his crease and knocking him down in front of the ref. Jawing resulted at center, but I guess that's what happens when you can't beat a team much. 2-25-1 since Cooper's 1st year are the 'Hawks against the Gamblers. McKay looks to be back to his pre-injury self as his numbers and performances has picked up. 2 SO in his last 4 starts.
