Despite outshooting the Lancers 41-27 the Force fall at home in OT. Omaha stays atop the West.
Three OT games and five road wins out of seven games last night.
Bench coaching loses this one for the Force.....again!
Also was wondering, and asked you in another post but it went unanswered, to what would you attribute the Force win streak to?
Fargo got of to a slow start with only three pre-season games and a week of on ice practices. Most USHL teams were "more polished" at the start of the season. I don't have a problem with this and it may pay off dividends towards the end of a long season.
Goal tending was good early on (though there were a few soft ones) and kept the Force in most of their early games. But the team really struggle to find some consistent scoring from their forwards. The power play was solid, but penalty kill was in the low 70's.
In mid-November Farley was moved onto a line with Chez, creating a duo that could put up points on anyone. Gust was brought in and put on a line with Guertler & Iafallo, which created a second line that could score. PK was solidified with the use of some different personal and now is one of the leagues best. Goal tending is not giving up as many soft ones. Team also started playing better "systems" particular the defensive play of the forwards.
The Force still needs to find the missing piece to the puzzle in order to create a third line that can consistently score. They also need to address the liability on their top line. I'm also concerned with some of their slow footed defensemen and how they "match up" with a few of the quicker teams (Waterloo, Des Monies, Lincoln, Omaha, Cedar Rapids, Green Bay). The Wade/Corrin pair also scares me, as I think it is a dangerous pairing.
Will be interesting if they make any late moves, though I doubt it:
