If the Steel traded Voltin for a player there still has to be more moves happening. Their roster is full with the addition of Shumway and Roos today. Could he be an affiliate and would the Steel have room to add an affiliate player? Aren't there limits for 94 affiliates?

i think the only players you can place on a affilate list are drafted players

That's what I thought, but Omaha ended up with Thatcher Demko on their affiliate list even though he was never drafted.

I think teams can trade drafted affiliate players from one team to another, but they can't just add a player to thier affiliate list if they have never been drafted by a USHL team

I understand the being drafted part. I'm just saying that Demko was never, ever drafted, but prior to the start of the season he ended up on the Lancers affiliate list. So there must be some sort of loophole for teams, or at least for the Lancers.

If I recall correctly, John Keeney was never drafted either. He was brought on halfway through the season and wasn't on our affiliate list prior to that time.

You are correct about Keeney. The difference with him and Demko is that Keeney never magically appeared on their affiliate list prior to the team adding him.

Was Demko at tryouts? I think there might be a loophole there with being able to add tryout players to the list

He was at their prospect camp in Las Vegas. I want to say that was after Sioux City's camp, in which he participated and they tried to protect him, I believe.

This tweet is getting blown out of proportion if you ask me. He's 16 and frustrated. Can't say I blame him.

Maybe, but truthfully it wasn't a very smart move on his part. i'm sure a lot of these kids feel this way at one point or another, but like with the referee who posted his comments on facebook earlier this week you've got to be cautious of what you put out there on the internet. You never know who's going to read it. I'm not sure if this kid has a commitment yet or not, but if he doesn't and a school was thinking about offering something, they may reconsider their offer based on this comment. Why commit him if he may give up playing hockey prior to the end of his scholarship. Even if he is committed there is still a chance they could pull their offer, it's happened before.

Just my $.02

Nice find Yeti!

Thrown off the NTDP, snubbed the Steel who promptly won 4 in a row, went to the Bucs who lost all 4 games he's played in, is pointless with his new club and a -6...........

Rough stretch for the kid.

Yes and no, but no to your reference. Voltin had a choice and was thrown off a club, Saar didn't and wasn't.............

Meant "leaving" the Steel who immediately go on to rattle off some pretty impressive big W's and ending up in Des Moines who went on to rattle off some big "L's"

Agreed.......... Reg has been really proactive, so hopefully this club finds some cohesion and makes the playoffs with some momentum.

They sure could use a few goalie wins to get things going. I just don't understand Kasdorf right now..... Maybe Copley lights a fire.

What are the USHL rules regarding a dismissal at this point in the season?
Thanks,

I would not say that the barn is burning quite yet, but the bucs are 4-2 since the big trade that included new goalie Copley. Looks like the fire has been lit. Still waiting to see how big and hot it gets.
