So he goes from from midget minor to USHL six months later and will be playing in 32 games? Not sure if the risks are worth it. Maybe forward, but you can't hide a defenseman.....
Interesting selection seeing that Fargo already has a similar young defenseman also playing midget minor for SSM.

Pelnik? Dude should have made the team this year. He's miles ahead of Goff.
They should have gone the goalie route. All of the goalies in the system are either tiny or terrible. Maybe they will take one in the Entry draft...shrug.

Yes, Pelnik, though I'm not sure I agree with you as to where you think he is compared to Goff

He is a 96 and is committed for 2014. If he signs a tender, then I'd think it is pretty good indication he will end up in Green Bay, but you never know, I suppose.

“I think the lifestyle and everything about the NCAA – the style of hockey, the atmosphere, the fans – suits me,” Brendan said. “Being around NHL locker rooms, it seemed that the guys respected players who went the extra mile, like Douglas Murray in San Jose . . . the professional hockey players with an education.

GAMBLERS SIGN BRENDAN LEMIEUX TO TENDER…
(Green Bay, WI) –) The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that forward Brendan Lemieux has been signed as a tender by the team and will play for the Gamblers in the upcoming 2012-13 season.
Lemieux is the son of four-time Stanley Cup champion and Conn Smythe winner Claude Lemieux. Currently, Lemieux plays for the Toronto Red Wings AAA program and comes to the Gamblers highly touted as one of the top ‘96 birthdates in North America. Lemieux will join top prospect and fellow North Dakota Recruit Nick Schmaltz as high profile player to play in Green Bay next season.
“We are very excited to sign Brendan as our first tender,” said Head Coach and General Manager Derek Lalonde, “To have the caliber of players like Brendan and Nick to decide to play here in Green Bay is a credit to the Gamblers organization and the USHL as a league.”
Both Lemieux and Schmaltz are scheduled to join North Dakota in the fall of 2014.

Opperman said he had the chance to speak with a variety of USHL teams such as Dubuque, Indiana and Omaha while Fargo called his future coach at Dartmouth.
But it was Tri-City that stood out.
“They showed the most interest in me,” Opperman said about Tri-City. “I really liked their coaches and what they were about. To me, that was enough.”
Opperman said Tri-City’s coaching staff really talked to him a lot about wanting him to be a part of the team’s future.
I think it's a good thing that despite having top organizations like Dubuque, Indiana, and Omaha come calling, he still listened to what Tri-City had to say and eventually decided that was the best place for him. I guess my point is that perhaps the teams lower on the totem pole also have the ability to sign a tender with highly touted players as well and this tender system can still make things somewhat even and not the rich getting richer, so to speak.

Yea, it is good to see big clubs lose out on a kid to a TC. But, I'm willing to guess this is the exception rather than the rule.....

I'm willing to bet that Hauge makes that team championship material by 2013. I may be biased in regards to Hauge, but he's probably the best junior hockey coach in the country in my opinion. I think he will make an awesome college coach soon as well. Kids will(and are) want to play for him.
