It woldnt be the first time it was a bargaining ploy. But, Lemieux is no dummy, that NHL experience, and understanding the system will guide his son well. It would suck if the kid went Major Junior after this and GB lost a pick for nothing.

Sure could be a bargaining ploy as SinBin mentions, or Lamieux would like to see his son educated after seeing the likes of Crosby suffer what could be career ending injuries. Not the end of the world for a guy with 20 mil in his pocket, but for a kid who hasn't cashed in yet he needs something to fall back on.
Yea if he goes CHL GB will lose the pick, but the risk reward for them is much higher than losing say the 16th pick in the Futures Draft rather than a top rated prospect in the world!!!........ I think GB likes the tender thing, as well they damn sure should.
