Well, I gotta dig this one up. I just watched the local sports cast. They did a 10 minute segment with high school basketball, showing clips from the games. A WHOLE LOT of empty bleachers!!!! So if we are going to base coverage of a team on how many people attend games, 90% of the games shouldn't be getting coverage based on interest right? Further just shows the Flint media is anti Flint hockey. What a crock.

Have to disagree. Even if people aren't there they still care about their high school sports since they're local kids. Warriors aren't local kids. And the Warrior aren't winning. At least with a high school game, one of the local teams wins. When the TV stations (or paper) picks the games to cover, it picks the best games on the schedule. No way to know how many people will be there. And TV tries to hit as many games as possible to get as many highlights as possible and therefore as many viewers as possible. Just because Flushing-Fenton doesn't have a ton of fans doesn't mean a lot of people won't tune in to see the highlights. It's all about business. If the TV stations thought a lot of people would tune in for Warriors highlights, they'd shoot them more.

Thanks. I'm with the same company. I'll be the Pistons/Red Wings Engagement Specialist (fancy title, eh!) for the MLive Media Group. Basically, I'm the backup beat writer for both teams but my main responsibility will be doing online stuff to "engage" readers. Stuff like videos, linking stories, engaging readers though witty banter like this, etc. Not sure when I officially start but I'm going to Nashville Dec. 26 and Dallas Jan. 3 to cover the Wings on the road.
Damn nice gig!!! Safe to assume you'll be coming to Chicago as well?
Chicago March 30! (I think that's the date.) With the Pistons, though. Not the Wings.
