Stars Site  Muskateers @ Stars Preview

The Stars have put a focus on reducing penalties, and in their recent stretch they’ve succeeded in lowering their numbers. The team has allowed at most five power plays in each of his last three games and four times in their last six games. Coincidentally, the Stars penalty kill has risen to second in the USHL and their average penalty minutes plummeted from 28.92 on December 1 to 23.50, which is the lowest of the season. While the Stars still lead the USHL in penalty minutes, they have steadily come closer to allowing Muskegon, who owns second in minutes (547) and average minutes (21.04), to overtake them in that category.

The Sioux City Musketeers continued their hot run last night with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Tri-City Storm, and while the result was a loss the team now has points in six-straight games with a 5-0-1-0 record. A large aid in the point run comes from goaltender Matt Jurusik, who has started in eight-straight games. The Chicago, Ill. native ended a six-game run of only conceding two or fewer goals and earned USHL Goaltender of the Week on December 18. In that span, the team is 5-2-1-0 and has moved into sixth place from eighth in the Western Conference.

Thanks, 47...............

Steel still short a full lineup by 2.  Regular D rotation Dmen Stucker and Kokilla out, forwards Magera and Kodsi out and Bucek not back from the WJC but Stevens seemingly will dress along with affiliate 00 Fillion (thought 99 Pollock showed a tad more jump last night in the few shifts both kids skated, noticed Pollock's speed right away).  Both those affiliates are up from the NAHL so it ain't like pulling a HS or Midget player up.  ..  Autio is ahead of Robbins on the chart so I guess he goes back to back.

Coach flipped Walker and Seyfert. I'm a fan of Mastro and Seyfert on the same lines as wings although Seyfert was quiet last night for him.

Go get em boys..........

Herby, that Timmons kid is effective IMO, uses his size smartly and stays in the structure doing so.......

CR fans, has Carlson split his better players to 4 different lines?  Slaggert, Walsh, Valech and the other Walsh all on different lines?

I am glad to see Mitton and Steele remain in the lineup. I am a big fan of Mitton. He didn't hardly get to dress for quite awhile but now has 2 assists in the last 3 games and Steele has two goals in the last two weekends.  Fargo has always had older teams but rolling well with 4-2000's in the lineup.

Steele isn't a regular?  Liked his game last night.  Four 00's.... Bison back to the 3rd line with JSSCCSCSS back from the WJC?

Under rated game of the night, SC at LIN.  SC on a 5 game win streak, LIN 5 game losing streak.  LIN is too talented for that.

Both Steele and Mitton have spent a number of games scratched.  Interesting to split up Fallstrom and Meyers.

Cam Knuble draws in for the Jacks, his first game since coming over from DM.  Leading scorer Bongiovanni toe picked into the end boards last night, left the game and is now scratched.  Hopefully nothing serious.

Indeed, confirmed by the FAR PBP man ,Pat Blunden, the Steel have the flu running thru the locker room.

That's an important interference call on Farmer.  Love the Force's physicality but many of these hits come a few ticks after the puck has been moved.  15 seconds before a winger hit Lilli a couple ticks after he moved the thing.  CHI PP at 4:45, SOG 5-1, CHI.   Need to get on the board early with a depleted group and Eades instructing to hit.

HTV stealin.  Froze the most of the PP but looks as though no shots on it (thanks to FAR having an SOG graphic for the fan), the 40 seconds I saw zero urgency on the PP.

Mitton gets his first goal of the season on a rebound. SS blocked a shot his first 10 seconds on the ice skated right to the bench. Skated two more shifts then headed to the locker room. Hope it's nothing serious.

At 10:15 the Force take their SECOND shot, and score.  Shot from point wide, bounces off the end wall to the front, Van Whye getting worked over by Vidgren nicely holds his ground at the side of the crease, back turned slides it cross crease, Dman Pietro misses his mark, Mitton buries it into the open net from the paint. 1-nuttin...........

Missed that....... The goal was all Van Whye.  Got worked over, held his ground, beauty feed for a slam dunk.

Absolutely, Van Whye and Senden are both work horses on that line.  SS doesn't return in the 2nd.

End 1st, 1-zero Force.  Steel were up 5-1 in SOG past the 1/2 way mark period ends 10-6 Force......... Steel having huge problems clearing the zone.  10-12-15 times with chances to clear and don't, 3-4 on one shift.  Don't fix that and it'll be a looooooong night.

Don't know why they sent Dugan and Bell.  Game has been clean as was last nights.  ....... Like the Force's physicality minus the scumbaggin you might see from physical groups.

Seems like the game took a chippy turn the 2nd half of the period. Bison got his 1st goal with the Force.
