Mlive/mark Opfermann Jacks looking to claw back into series

Muskegon has been handcuffed with the absence of leading scorer Andrei Svechnikov, who is overseas playing in the World Under-18 tournament. Injuries, illness and now the one-game suspension of Matt Steeves, who cross-checked Dubuque captain Dallas Gerads in the face in Game 2, haven't helped either.

Forward Mikael Hakkarainen was injured in Game 1 and played very little in Game 2 and Garrett Van Wyhe played, but was limited due to an illness.

He forgot to mention forward Kondelik is at the World U-18 tournament as well.

Mlive Jacks face must win in Game 3

They could be coming back home, where they earned 42 points in the regular season, with a win in hand and momentum on their side.

Instead, Garrett Van Wyhe's breakaway chance hit both posts and sat on the goal line. Casey Gilling's wrister rang off the iron and out. Jaxon Castor made a fantastic save. Taylor Brierley blocked what surely would have been a goal.

Saints give Muskegon a gift 11 minutes in. Horrible turnover right in front of Castor, and he had no chance. 1-0

Still can't believe Petrozzelli didn't get the call in an elimination game. The #1 ranked NA goaltending prospect.

Intermission show PBP man Bradford mentioned no Jack goalie has started more than 2 in a row, Petro went the first two of the series.

Jacks didn't dress Owen Farris the 2000 they called up. Looks like they went with 99 forward Cheremeta who played 3 regular season games. Saw the kid in Chicago and he looked ok, wasn't overwhelmed.

Home teams 8-1 in the playoffs this year..............

Horrid PP, but Bender brings it in along the left wall with speed, gets outside the Dman, takes it hard to the net for a stuff attempt, Castor on his knees follows with stick down, don't think it got to him as it was whacked out of the crease, Castor slides way out leaving a wide open net, Dman Del Gaizo jumps in a wrists it home, 2-0.

Saints pretty much leaving Castor out to dry, easily could be 6-0 if Castor want as good as he has been.

The Solow turnover on the PP?

And a couple sloppy turnovers by dmen. It could be a lot worse than it is

Howdashell off for a hook with 2:16 left in the 2nd............. Jacks have been every bit as dangerous on the kill as DBQ has been on the PP this period.

You were a few minutes ahead of me. No doubt Castor has given his team a chance. Saints puck management couldn't be much worse. .......He's been their best player in this series.

No Svech, Hakarainen (injured), Kondelek, Steeves (suspended), haven't seen Cheremeta take a shift, all forwards. LaFontaine it seems has really shortened an already short bench and with the pace of this thing the Saints might get an edge sometime in the 3rd if they can tighten their game up.

They've had some looks and chances but Briz seems dialed in, tracking nicely.

Rueschhoff has really elevated his game. Bradford mentioned he may be the best Saint so far in this series, don't know about that but no doubt his game is at another level than it was in Game 50 this season. Kid is a nice package of 6ft 5in 210lbs, skill, skating, IQ, quick hands and a plus shot and release.
