Nice find, Herby......... I'm sure Fuk has had many offers over the years, as he should, so I'll believe it when I see it... If he goes that's a big loss for Waterloo and the league.

How long has Fuk been with PK and Waterloo?

Could long time Waterloo assistant Shane Fukushima be leaving? Tweet speculates he will join the Northern Michigan staff as an assistant. https://twitter.com/YouthHockeyHub/status/854837068790419457

Well respected guy. He was a guy I was hoping the Stars were looking at when they eventually hired Chris Hartsburg.

The Covelli Centre agreed to decrease the rent in exchange for the Phantoms giving up six days on the weekends — allowing the Covelli Centre to book more profitable acts.

Ryan said the Covelli Centre does not make money off the Phantoms, but having the team around is good for the community.

More weekday games for the furthest travel in the USHL. Will be tough scheduling for traveling teams.

Thanks for your effort, duster. Very much appreciated......... We wonder every year looking at attendance which club may fold and the Phantoms always draw interest on that account. As 47 points out weekday games are not ideal but none the less knowing the Phantoms have a 3 yr lease is very good news.

The other benefit with the Phantoms deal is with the USHL apparently wanting to condense the regular season, there will naturally be more mid-week games.

One regular occurrence with the Phantoms road travel is to maybe head out to Iowa on a Friday and Saturday, and then play at Chicago or in Michigan on the way back on Sunday to get in three games. A mid-week game primarily means at least Thursday. Which could be: team travels to Youngstown on Thursday, and then hits up Muskegon, USDP, or Chicago on the way back through. If it's Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, the likely suggestion is the easy one-off game with USDP since they can make the trip without staying the night along the way. Even when we have weekends with USDP as a two-game series, it's usually one game in Michigan and one game in Youngstown.

And the Covelli Centre certainly isn't making money off them, but it does fill dates regularly to keep the arena going between the bigger events that come through such as WWE, Monster Truck, concerts, etc.

This is why I always root for the Phantoms, except of course when they play The Mighty Steel. Tough sometimes with their "style of play" and personnel some years but due to geography they are behind the 8 ball before puck drop on Day 1.

Good to know they'll be around awhile.
