Stars Site Stars-Bloomington Preview

After falling, 2-1, to Bloomington last night, the Stars remain six points shy of a playoff spot with eight games remaining and three against teams in playoff position. Lincoln has lost three of its last five games and has gone 3-3-0 during its nine-game home stand. The Stars will look to their power play to rebound in tonight’s game. Lincoln has the ninth-best power play in the USHL, but has gone only 3/24 (12.4%) in its last four games.

A reasonable pace in the 1st period in Plymouth. Much less urgency in the 18's game compared to yesterday. Saints only 1 shot 10 minutes in, no score..........

Stezka (CHI) vs Thome (WTL) making his 12th start in a row.

8 minutes in no score, SOG 6-4 CHI, CHI 0-1 on the PP. ......

Lutz and Walker draw back in. Lewandowski out nicked. McLaughlin his 2nd start back from the MN HS playoffs on a line with O'neill and Walker. .....Healthy scratches my guy Seyfert, Halme, Kachyna, Green.

Not much happening looks like they are feeling each other out.

1st period over in WTL with the Hawks up 1-0..........Both clubs 0-1 on the PP, SOG even at 11.

Loo got on the board at 15:07. Walsh carrying it out, coughs at the red line, puck moved into the zone, given up behind the net, McLaughlin makes a soft backhand pass, picked, he's blowing the zone for some reason, moved from behind the net to the low circle, Chryszyn wrists it past Stezka.

Thome stoned O'neill and McManus.

Sluggish and choppy from both sides in the 1st. Not much flow or crispness.

Looks like top gun Swaney is out again for Loo.

1st

15:07 WAT Kevin Charyszyn (28) ASST: Emil Ohrvall (16), Bailey Conger (21)

Steel respond at 9:04 of the 2nd. CHI nicely 3 pass out of their zone and into Loo's, Badini carries it in along the right wall, checks up and feeds Johnstone at the point, he takes 3-4 strides up and drops for a circling Lutz, unmarked he skates to between the circles and sizzles a slapper glove side, 1-1.......

Text book out, in, motion in the Ozone leaving Lutz unmarked and the Steel cash in.... Beauty.

Less than a minute later Steel threatening, Mirageas pinches to keep puck in, fails, puck is pushed out to Steel blueline, Johnson wins the puck race, skates in along the wall, checks up feeds Spaxman at the blueline, slapper wide, Stezka down and anchored, pucks kicks out to the other side, Miura hits the wide open net, 2-1 at 9:52.

Check that, puck was slightly tipped on the Spaxman slapper that went wide......

Like the way the Steel are using the extra 15 feet of width on PK's ocean in this period.

With 2:33 left in the 2nd, Steel down 1, Walker already with 2 penalties, at least one two games ago, suspended yesterday for accumulation of Misconducts, takes a 5 minute Major Match penalty for BITING...........

looks like I'll get to see my guy Seyfert for a couple games while Walker serves whatever suspension he gets.

Period ends with WTL up 2-1. SOG in the period 14-8 Loo and 25-19 through 2 periods........ Hawks will have 2:27 left on Walker's biting Major to start the 3rd.

Good period for the fan. Game opened up as both teams found some speed and chances.

My guy O'neill with a beauty block of a point slapper on the kill, carries it in, cross ice feeds Shore in the crease, whiffs at a wide open cage.

Steel nicely kill Walker's 5 minute Biting Major. 2-3-4 excellent shot blocks and a grade a shorty chance........ See how much Walker's Biting Major took out of their legs.

SC leads 8-1 in the 3rd. 2 goals from Kelleher, Tolvanen, and Tufto. Rigali and Vance with the other Musketeer goals.

USA being out shot 47-14.

Nice turnaround from last night, where they only managed 2 goals. Good to see SC put up some goals and put the game out of reach.

And with the win, the Muskies clinch a playoff spot!
