USHL Site Players of The Week

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 25 of the 2016-17 season. The Waterloo Black Hawk's Alex Limoges and Fargo Force's Blake Lizotte earned Co-Forward of the Week honors thanks to five-point weekends, while Limoges' teammate Jake Ryczek and Des Moines Buccaneers blueliner Mario Ferraro both had one goal and two assists on the weekend en route to sharing Defenseman of the Week. Bloomington Thunder netminder Logan Halladay was named Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season, as he made 92 saves over three games to extend the Thunder's point streak to five games. CCM Hockey is the official equipment provider of the USHL.

Limoges has been a strong offensive player all year long, but he has fit in exceptionally well with the Black Hawks since coming over from the Tri-City Storm earlier this season. In his 11 games with Waterloo, Limoges has scored 16 points (5G, 11A), giving him 47 points (18G, 29A) in 49 games overall. He is in his second USHL season and has 86 points (32G, 54A) in 90 career regular-season games. He is also a proven playoff performer, as he had 14 points (5G, 9A) in 11 games last season to help the Storm win the Clark Cup.

Storm Site/David Fine Speedy Forward David Rule excited about playing for the Storm

The 18-year-old didn’t need to pack his bags; this move was for the future. Tri-City completed three trades and one waiver acquisition in a 24-hour span, acquiring Rule, affiliate Tyler Borsch, goalie Logan Halladay, four draft picks and two players to be named later. As part of the Rule deal, Alex Limoges was shipped to Waterloo.

Bucs Site/Erick Zamora Buccaneers Face Huge Weekend Series in Fargo

The Des Moines Buccaneers play in arguably their biggest series of the season this weekend as they have a pair on the road at Scheels Arena in Fargo, ND, home of the Fargo Force.

Des Moines (31-16-1-3) is currently third in the Western Conference with 66 points but just a point behind them is Fargo (30-15-4-1) sitting with 65 points and a game in hand on the Buccaneers. While there is room for both of them to make the Western Conference with the top four teams making the playoffs, the Lincoln Stars (27-19-4-1) with 59 points are within striking distance of either team if they can get a couple of weekends worth of games to go in their favor. That leaves little room for error between the teams currently sitting in third and fourth, trying to fend off a late push by Lincoln.

Jack Adams and Blake Lizotte are tied with one another for second in the USHL with 51 points while Crone is tied for fourth with 49 points. The three have combined for 64 goals which is even more than Dubuque’s Solow-Theisen-Guttman line (which has scored 61 goals) and Fargo’s trio have scored a higher percentage of their team’s goals than the Fighting Saints’ top line (40.3% to 36.1%).

Love this show. Great for the fans......... Lizotte is an impressive young man. well spoken and well coached too. When he mentioned the Force try and keep their shots low that is music to my ears. Pucks get deflected and redirected down there, they get blocked when they hit a chest. And like a baseball a pitch low in the strike zone is farther from the hitters eyes, same with a goalie.

One helluva a weekend series with Allison's hair on fire Bucs in for two, and in HD with a first rate production and call. Then off to SC and two in Muskegon. Some great hockey ahead..........
