Any thoughts on what you saw out of the 6th rd Vegas CZE goalie?

Yea 47, have to be down to 23 on opening night.

IIRC teams take 30 or so to the FC.   Also the cut is to 23 not 24 players, again IIRC.

Steel fall to CI Aces at home 5-2.  Aces outshoot Steel 29-26.  Game was close on the scoreboard 8 minutes into the 2nd tied at 2 each until the Aces took over with 3 goals in the remaining 30 minutes.  Erick Gordon (14/16) and Kris Carlson (10/10) split time in goal for CI while Robbins went the whole way stopping 24 of 29. Steel were ragged in their 2nd preseason game as they will return only 6 players.  Not much flow, passes not near crisp, not a whole lot of structure as the team showed there is much work to be done as expected.   Just hard to tell what Alaban's system is from this showing as the flow was choppy at best.  Lotta push the thing forward and go from there.  PP got set up for maybe 20-30 seconds all night and it looked to be a 4 forward 1 Dman 2-1-2 setup.  PK was aggressive.  They look short on talent at the forward spot and as I brought along my notes from tryout camp I wondered about some of the cuts that I thought showed skill.  Never know the reasons a kid is cut but I'm behind the organIzations evaluators and assume they have their plan.  My guess is the plan is for the group to hopefully stay around the .500 mark until midseason or so and hit stride as the inexperience gels.  My trust will be tested in goal but I have to qualify that by saying I thought both Ytown and SC had the edge in goal in last yrs playoffs and Stezka proved me, and many others I'm sure (Steel traded late for Rasmussen to hedge their bet on Stezka), wrong in putting up a .943 SPG on the way to the cup.  Stezka just didn't pass my eye test in the mold of Corey Crawford.  Stumbles, jerky movements, stabs, lunges, off balance, anchors himself but simply stops pucks ugly. Robbins seems to have the inside track on the #2 spot.  Kid looks the part as a 5ft 7in goalie as he moves nicely, is quick, balanced and seems polished.  But going on my 2 viewings of him, Allstar game at camp and yesterday, the kid finds a way to allow 5-6-7-8 goals.  He's so small he has to come way out to take away the net from the shooter that any rebound or cross ice pass gives the shooter a gaping net to shoot into.  There is just zero room for error and I haven't seen Robbins close to being errorless. He'll back up Derek Schaedig who is a 98 with 4 USHL games experience.  The 4 games he was an emergency call up for LIN last yr from the NAHL and was lights out going 4-0 with a .940 SPG, that's real good.  Schaedig went to the Steel in the 1st rd 14th overall out of NAHL Janesville.  But in last yrs NAHL playoffs Schaedig sat behind 99 Jake Barczewski (drafted by TC in the 3rd rd) for all nine Janesville playoff games.  Never saw the ice.  Have only seen Schaedig in the Allstar tryout games and he looked wobbly in one and ok in the other.  If the Steel keep Robbins as the #2 and Scheadig struggles (both goalies have a total of 4 USHL games) this thing could go wrong badly.  Again I'll trust the evaluators but this thing is scary to my eye. Liked what I saw out of Sam Bucek (SVK).  A 98 with QMJHL experience.  Skated with McLaughlin and Magera and looked solid, maybe a middle 6 type. Aaro Vidgren (FIN) a 97 played pro last yr in Finland.  My guy tender Robert Mastosimone played center whereas he played wing under Muse in camp. I was calling for Seyfert to get into the lineup in last yrs playoffs and he showing what I thought he had.  Kid is high energy and skilled.  Nice effort goal off a forecheck. Dugan looked better.  Kid is the #2 overall and has to help.  Power player he's short on touch right now.  Skated with Mastrosimone and Vidgren.  Big Dman rookie 00 Xan Gurney has been working on his skating and it showed.  Kid has much much better balance, so much so he's looking to jump in.  He did however get caught flat footed at the blueline leading to a partial breakaway and goal by CI.  5ft 8in center Nick Abruzzese showed some skill.  Played low and fast and would have loved to see him between McLaughlin and Bucek instead of Magero.  Speaking of McLaughlin he seems to be going the USHL, HS back to USHL route which would deplete the skill of the group already short.   Bloomy, I mean CI.   Firstly the jersey colors were gorgeous.  A beautiful blood red.  Love the look.    If I had to say what style they played or who they reminded me of I'd say the 2016/17 Chicago Steel.  The structure was beautiful in their 2nd game.  For the first half of the 1st period the Steel had all the zone time but CI didn't run around and stuck to and trusted their system.  Had to be 4-5-6 minutes before they got a shot off.  Like the Steel of last yr the structure wore the opposition down and the chances followed.  This team supports all over the ice, comes in waves, heads are up, players are in position, the offensive sets reminded me of the Chicago Blackhawks (and Steel) in that there is perpetual motion with players interchanging, they play fast, they look to transition with support in an instant and most of all it seems as players were chosen with IQ being the first priority. I would say I had a hard time deciphering which line was which, they all played the same way.  So much so I really didn't take notes on individual players.  To my eye that is a high compliment. Coach Mike Watt has minimal coaching experience but I did see him play AA pro for a couple yrs.  Very skilled but very cerebral player.  This is a tiny sample and it's hard to say if CI was that good or Chicago that poor but Watt had his group looking in midseason form in only their 2nd game of the preseason.  ...... I have to research the CI players as far as prognosticating but this group under Watt looked fantastic.

Only see one Force player on their so far, Noah Ganske. EP only has him at 6'3" but the scrimmage rosters listed him at 6'7" and he looked it. I thought he moved pretty good for his size and new how to position himself to keep them to the boards. Fargo had a lot of good D men to choose from. Think we will see him in the USHL in the future. When do the next round of cuts have to be made? Do they go to 26, then 24 by opener? Can't imagine taking 29 or 30 all the way to Pittsburgh.
